Predicting the Fall of Dominoes Milestone 5

چکیده
By studying the physics behind toppling dominoes we are able to create a theory to predict the time for the dominoes to fall and if necessary, find an arrangement of dominoes that will optimize the topple time. The conservation of energy is used and all interactions between the dominoes are neglected except for the initial impact. Using the number of dominoes, the geometry of the chain, and the spacing between the dominoes we are able to calculate and optimize the topple time.

A model for a network of phosphorylation-dephosphorylation cycles displaying the dynamics of dominoes and clocks.
We consider a model for a network of phosphorylation-dephosphorylation cycles coupled through forward and backward regulatory interactions, such that a protein phosphorylated in a given cycle activates the phosphorylation of a protein by a kinase in the next cycle as well as the dephosphorylation of a protein by a phosphatase in a preceding cycle. The network is cyclically organized in such a w...
متن کاملSplicing semigroups of dominoes and DNA
We introduce semigroups of dominoes as a tool for working with sets of linked strings. In particular, we are interested in splicing semigroups of dominoes. In the special case of alphabetic (symbol-to-symbol linked) dominoes the splicing semigroups are essentially equivalent to the splicing systems introduced by Head to study infor-mational macromolecules, speciically to study the eeect of sets...
متن کاملPosition of Abu-Ali Chaghani in military and political interactions of Samanids
Al -e- Muhtaj were one of the local rulers of Chaghanian region in upper part of the Oxus (Amu Darya) that had autonomy concurrent with period of Amir Ismaʽil Samani (279-295 AH) in their dominated area, i.e. parts of Khorasan and Rey. This local dynasty as puppet of Samanids, had effective role in political and military power of that state. Honesty and courage of emirs of this clan, including...
متن کاملOn the Complexity of n-player Toppling Dominoes
Why are n-player games much more complex than two-player games? Is it much more difficult to cooperate or to compete? n-player Toppling Dominoes is an n-player version of Toppling Dominoes, a two-player combinatorial game. Because of queer games, i.e., games where no player has a winning strategy, cooperation is a key-factor in nplayer games and, as a consequence, n-player Toppling Dominoes pla...
متن کاملMistilings with dominoes
We consider placing dominoes on a checker board such that each domino covers exactly some number of squares. Given a board and a type of domino, we define the mistiling ratio as the minimum proportion of squares that are covered in a maximal packing of the board with dominoes of that type. In this note we determine and bound the mistiling ratio for some types of dominoes on the infinite checker...
